Formula & methodology

BMR (male) = 10×weight + 6.25×height − 5×age + 5. BMR (female) = 10×weight + 6.25×height − 5×age − 161. TDEE = BMR × activity factor (1.2–1.9).

Worked example

Male, 35, 80 kg, 178 cm: BMR = 800 + 1112.5 − 175 + 5 = 1742.5 kcal. Moderate activity: 1742.5 × 1.55 ≈ 2701 kcal/day.
